The night was still clear after Oboyo had finished honoring Sir Dusk's last request, but Oboyo's mind and heart were not. He didn't approve of the attitude Sir Dusk's fellow Wishborn had towards each other, and he certainly didn't approve of having to wait another hour for the ferry to Shrike to depart. Still, such was fate. The man resigned to standing on the docks, gazing up at the stars. The sight wasn't something one could often see among the industrious, polluted city of Shrike.

After visiting one of the harbor warehouses to retrieve a donated shipment of books, Twilight Sparkle carefully makes her way back to the library, though her route takes her right past Oboyo. "This will make a good addition to the library... Good evening - are you waiting for something?"

Oboyo blinked twice as he snapped out of his stargazing and turned towards his visitor. As one who was born into the cleft, the sight of such a creature bearing intelligence and curiousity wasn't entirely uncommon to him. He cracked a smirk as he prepared his response, attempting to hide his frustration. Strangers didn't deserve such lashing.

Just for these guys to hurry up. The ferry to Shrike won't be departing until another hour. It's sensible, but it's bothersome to have to wait again after arriving so soon. I finished my business here quickly, you see." explained Oboyo.

"Ah, the business with Kyuubey earlier, if I recall correctly? And, though it might seem odd... I can get you there right now, via teleportation, if that would make things easier." Despite her eagerness to get back to the library, however, Twilight Sparkle sits down, deciding to keep her 'guest' company while he waits.

"Is that its name, now? I didn't notice you there before, but I suppose I was concentrating on only one thing at the time. Indeed, I was..doing a friend a favor." said Oboyo, keeping the details to himself. Sharing such a tragedy with strangers was hardly appropriate conduct. "Teleportation, huh? That's awfully convenient. I know someone who would be pretty jealous of you."

"It's really no trouble, since I've done it plenty of times in the past - and I'm too modest to boast..." Twilight Sparkle smiles lopsidedly, before turning her gaze away with a sigh. "You did one of my best friends a favor, and I should repay your kindness somehow..."

"That's impressive. Still.." said Oboyo before trailing off, pulling his ferry ticket from out of his pocket. "..it'd be a shame to waste this." Granted, something of such lowly value posed no threat to the young Jinsaka's wealth, but such is what separated him from his father. He believed that it was the tiny things that counted the most. No piece of gold could be complete without 100 pieces of silver bestowing its value upon it.
Oboyo's curiousity then spiked as he witnessed the unicorn sigh, "I don't understand. What do you mean?"

As she returns her gaze to Oboyo, there's a flicker of sadness across Twilight Sparkle's face, punctuated by both ears folding flat against her head. "One of my best friends, Rarity, was also a Wishborn, and she died a few days ago..."

Oboyo turned his face slightly away to the left. "..I see." That put the pieces together for him; now he knew the significance of the other gem he was holding. He wanted to apologize for missing the opportunity to let her keep the gem as a keepsake of her friend, but the event was all in the past. Were Oboyo in her shoe--hooves, he would have been traumatized to see the gem disappear into the cat the way that it did.
"There are things that happen in this world that can't be helped. But it is those things that inspire action on the things that can be helped." said Oboyo, turning to look back up towards the stars once more. "I wasn't able to save an innocent man from a tragic fate. But I can save others from going through what he did. What about you? How will you honor your friend's memory?" asked Oboyo as he turned away from the stars and casted his gaze on the unicorn with a serious look on his face.

"The only way I know how. I'll have to do everything I can to make sure her younger sister Sweetie Belle grows up right, in her place." Twilight Sparkle returns Oboyo's gaze, expression turning resolute. "More than my duty as the bearer of the Element of Magic, I can't let Rarity down by failing her sister."

Oboyo smirked again, looking at the rune on his land hand. "That's all well and good.." he started to say before trailing off and looking at the sky once more, "..but it won't matter much if we're not all around anymore, will it?"

Though Twilight Sparkle raises one eyebrow at this, she shrugs, seizing the box of books with her magic as she steps closer. "I don't think it will, but anyways... Is there something else you'd like to ask me, before I return to my library to sort these new books out?"

"You can't turn a blind eye to the truth. It will never go away." said Oboyo, moving his gaze from the stars back towards the unicorn. "You seem capable with magic. What would you do if I were to tell you that the cleft stands on the brink of war with malevolent spirits? Would you even believe me?"

This earns a concerned gaze from Twilight Sparkle, followed by her eyebrows knitting together in unmistakable seriousness. "Then I'd stand ready to fight them, much like I did with Discord, Queen Chrysalis, and King Sombra back home in Equestria. As long as there's evil in the world... What good would it do for me to simply stand by and do nothing more than watch? And I can believe this, yes."

"That's the answer I wanted to hear." said Oboyo with a smile on his face. "A seer once told me that fate isn't unchangeable. With your help, we'll be that much closer to stopping those spirits from taking our world." Oboyo's words were then interrupted by the horn of the ferry. Apparently his badgering moved the workers along, and they were ready to set sail ahead of schedule.
As the loud horn blared on, Oboyo nodded once towards the unicorn and rose his voice, "My name is Oboyo Jinsaka. I'm forming a group to take on this burden and to prevent more tragedies like the one that took our friends. If you really want to honor her memory and fight, then come to Shrike with me!"

Nodding once, Twilight Sparkle quickly heads to the library to close it, leaving her box of books on the pier until she returns. "Just give me a few minutes to gather the supplies I need, and close my library, and I'll be ready to go."
In rather quick order, the Magic-bearing unicorn returns to the pier, after packing her saddlebags and a larger knapsack with numerous bottles of water, food, and research materials and blank scrolls, then leaving a note for Finn on the door. 'Finn, I'm going to be leaving the library in your care, while I journey to Shrike. -Twilight Sparkle'
