It's been a long day of adventuring, and Finn has finally gotten back home. After staying up for a handful of days, he's ready to crash. Preferably, he's hoping a certain someone is home, so he can crash in bed with them. But since the fort seems largely quiet, he's not holding his breath. He climbs up to the living room, and tosses his stuff into the corner, kicking off his shoes.

Jake is just lying on the couch, being as lazy as he's been since finding Finn. Having seen so many other characters coming and going, he seems to think that he'll just blend in if he doesn't pipe up and say anything to Finn.

Noting Jake laying on the couch, Finn blinks at him. He's surprised that his bud doesn't do anything, or say anything, not especially when he shows up. So he moves and hops up onto the couch and gently nudges Jake. "Hey, bud. What's wrong? You feelin' down or somethin'?"

"Oh sure, everything's great. There's just so many nice animals hanging around here getting into things." says Jake sarcastically. He doesn't budge from the couch.

Finn blinks at his best bud, and then it kinda strikes him. Well, first that Jake being sarcastic.. then fianlly that he's clearly upset about something. "C'mon, man, be serious. You know you can talk to your best bud about anything, man," he offers, nudging gently against him. "Are you mad 'cause I haven't been taking you adventuring?"

The expression on Jake's face changes from blank to a glare as his voice picks up slightly, "Is adventuring all that important to you? What about getting home? This place is cool and all, but some of us have pregnant girlfriends to get back to!"

"Ohh.. you're talking about Lady.." Finn had completely forgotten about it. "Well, I'll be honest, when I showed up here I figured you were still back home." He leans against you a bit, scratching him behind the ears, so maybe he'll relax a bit. "And I did a lot of searchin', trying to figure out a way back home. When I learned my chances of getting back home were really low, I kinda.. settled in. Then I found you. Or, we found each other."
"I had no idea you were so miserable, though, man," Finn frowns a little at him. "I'm sorry."

Jake seems to let up a little. "We can't just settle in though, man. We don't belong here." says Jake as he stands up and walks over towards the window, gazing outside while gripping his left arm where a patch of fur is missing from burns sustained by a certain pokemon. "Adventuring here just isn't the same."

"No-one really belongs here. Look how many different people are here, man," Finn smiles at his friend. "Just gotta make the best of it 'til we CAN find a way home." He leans back a little, watching his friend move to the window. He does note the patch of fur still missing, but doesn't say anything about it. "Yeah. I know. It took me a while to get used to how things are here."
"But, y'know, I kinda like it here," Finn admits with a helpless shrug. "If I had a choice between going home and staying here.. I think I'd probably want to stay here. I mean, looking back at how things were back home.. Peebs would never like me.. I could never be with FP.. heck, even Marceline was hard to get a hold of. Don't get me wrong, I miss home, but.. I don't know if I miss it enough to go back."

For a minute, Jake didn't say anything. But of course, he already knew that Finn felt that way. "I was hiding in your bag, you know." Jake says casually as he stretches his hand over to the table's shadow, drawn out by the sun. As he does so, his body turns black while he pulls himself over towards the shadow, disappearing into it completely.
Almost instantly, Jake then rises up from the shadows behind the couch, his body turning back to normal. "That guy said that your friend couldn't go home. But what about us? Or should I say..what about me?"

"O.. oh.." Finn blinks at him when he admits that. Well, that explains why he knows already. He stays relaxing against the couch, that frown still prevalent on his face.. 'til Jake rises up from the shadows behind the couch, getting him to both jump, and pull him out of his contemplation. "Well.. I dunno, man," he admits, reaching a hand up to try to snag him. "But I know how bad you wanna go home."
"So.." Finn continues, smiling at him. "You know I'll totes help you get home. Or, well.. I'll try my hardest. Anything for my best bud."

Jake then turns dark once more and seemingly falls through the floor, appearing once more from the ceiling near the window and landing beside it, glancing outside again. "I guess.." he starts to say before turning his gaze towards Finn. "..I'd better live up the adventures with you while I still can." Seems their minds were set. Destiny would someday attempt to tear them apart. But would the happiness of temporary bliss outweigh the inevitable pain that will come?

Finn blinks a little at you as he seems to go shadow. How the heck is he doing that? Oh, wait.. "Hey, man.. when you said you were in my backpack.. were you in my backpack when I went with Mogwai to see Shade?" If that's the case, then technically, he's probably got freaky moon powers, too.. weird! Explains why he's doing that weird, new stuff. "That's pretty awesome, man," he muses. "But, hey.. let's party tonight or somethin', man."

Jake's ears perk up a little at the thought of partying. Seems every dog has his weakness. "Alright! But you can't invite Eevee! And put a limit on the ponies, will ya?"

"Oh, yeah," Finn laughs a little bit at that. "I guess we kinda have a lot of ponies here. I kinda figured you'd be cool with it since you totes loved Lady Rainicorn," he grins playfully, nudging his bud in the side with an elbow, giving him that knowing look.

Finn clearly had no tact, bringing Jake things that would remind him of the reason he was miserable. But Finn's his best friend and knows this well, so he doesn't hold it against him. "And where's that Pichu? I never found my viola!"

"Who? Julexa?" Finn rubs his chin a little at that, glancing around. "I'm not sure. Probably off sleeping somewhere," he muses. It seems that he's completely forgotten about the fact that Lady Rainicorn is the reason why Jake's so miserable here.. or, he probably just kinda slipped there. "We can always get you a new viola, if we can't find your old one. Or maybe we can have BMO find it."

"Yeah, BMO would know! BMO's awesome at finding things!" says Jake as he remembers the time Finn went nuts over his missing sock.

"I'm gonna go ask BMO. Why don't you start inviting some peeps? By the way, I feel this weird sensation to go howl at the moon tonight, so don't worry about me if I'm out late." says Jake as he runs off searching for BMO. After about a moment, a flap lifts up from the bottom of the couch as BMO briefly pops his head out long enough to squint his eyes towards the door before pulling back and hiding under the couch again. It seems the first steps have been taken.
There were parties to be had, people to be invited, adventures to go on, and violas to find. And BMO knew exactly what time it was.
