The full moon cast a dim light on Truce's fountain, and a light breeze kept the water chilly. A Gigantos, oddly dressed for public, cups his hands in the water and then drinks deeply from the water they net.

Tyrranis rests on one of the benches and rubs what water he didn't drink onto his face, letting out a low sigh. Afterwards, he casts his gaze up to the stars and watches them for a while.

And against the background of night, a small figure appears, hopping onto the edge of that fountain. The little creature takes a moment to lick a bit from it before looking up at the Gigantos. "Hello!"

Tyrranis looks slowly down the the small, cat thing and raises a shaved eyebrow. "Greetings. How does the night treat you?"

Kyuubey smiles, curling up a little. "Very well! I'm Kyuubey."

You say 'Kyuubey. I am named Tyrranis. Is your last name lost, like mine?'

Kyuubey shakes its head. "I don't have one! I'm just Kyuubey." It twitches its tail inquisitively. "How do you lose a name?"

You say ' I am not sure. One day I did not have one. I can only assume some form of magic was involved. Or possibly brain trauma.'

Kyuubey nods, thinking for a moment. "I could get you it back! Or anything else you want."

You say ' Hm? How would that even work? Are you a mage as well?'

Kyuubey shakes its head. "I can grant wishes!"

Tyrranis cocks his head to the side, and then smiles. "I think I am fine without a last name, Kyuubey. I do like your offer however." His hand reaches up to stroke his hairless chin, and he speaks again. "You can grant wishes. How is this possible?"

The silence of the evening is pierced by an ear-splitting scream, originating from one of the windows of the nearby inn. It's easy to tell which one because the window in question erupts shortly afterward from having a very heavy piece of furniture flung through it.

"Well, you see--" But before Kyuubey can go on, the window explodes and he looks at it, his expression not changing a bit. "That was interesting, wasn't it?"

You say ' It seems as if someone there exploded something. Very interesting.'

Though some illegible grumbling is heard from the open window afterward, it dies down, bringing the silence of the evening back to Truce.

Kyuubey watches the window for a moment, tail twitching, then turns its attention back to Tyrannis. "I grant wishes in exchange for a contract. You get whatever you want, and in return, you become a magical boy and fight evil!"

Tyrranis likewise focuses back on Kyuubey, and continues to scratch at his chin. "Fighting evil is an acceptable practice. Fighting at all is something that I look forwards to. Motions help me recall things. What would I wish for? This is not something I know."

Kyuubey just maintains its constant little smile. "Anything you want at all. Your name, something for a friend, money, power... Anything."

You say ' Anything. This is a powerful thing to broach. What if one wished for the end of this world? Would the wish still come to being?'

Kyuubey shakes its head just a little. "I wouldn't grant a wish like that. I'm trying to help the world, after all!"

You say ' I am very glad to hear this. So many things ended. It would be sad. I think I would like to think for a moment. I would like to imagine something to wish for. Would you allow this?'

The door to the nearby inn slams open. A small moogle wearing dark armor up to her wrists and knees starts walking dejectedly and aimlessly toward the fountain, rubbing her eyes all the while.

Kyuubey nods. "Take your time! I can wait." It then turns its attention to the newcomer. "Hello!"

Tyrranis decidedly ignores the moogle completely, turning his gaze once more to the sky so that he can think.

The moogle looks at the catlike creature and spots the fountain. In lieu of a response, she dunks her head into the fountain and splashes it about a bit before lifting it back up. "That's better," she half-growls.

Kyuubey tilts its head a bit, watching Rana with that unfading smile. "Are you alright?"

Rana shakes the water out of her fur and glares at Kyuubey with her usual air of annoyance. "...can't sleep. Who... WHAT are you supposed to be?"

"I'm Kyuubey!" Kyuubey replied cheerfully. "I grant wishes."

Rana's eyes open a bit at the mention of wishes but she otherwise doesn't respond. "At what cost?"

"You become a magical girl, and fight against evil." Kyuubey's stare and smile never falter for a second.

Rana's look soured at the mention of magic. "For how long?" she asked flatly, "and what kind of magic?"

"Forever." Kyuubey says it as casually as it has said everything else. "And it depends! Your personality will shape your gifts."

Rana flat-out glared at Kyuubey at this point, her red eyes glistening in the moonlight. "Right. I'm going to walk away from you now. If you follow me, I'll kill you."

Rana walked away from the pair at that moment. "Stupid fucking magic..." She was heard mumbling as she walked back to the inn.

Tyrranis looks slowly down at Kyuubey, and pierces him with a gaze. "I have decided. You will still grant wishes yes?"

Kyuubey looks up at Tyrranis, nodding. He seems unfazed by Rana's refusal. "Of course!"

You say ' I have looked deep within what I could see of myself. I am a lonely being. But that is not my wish. I wish to fight. I wish that my fights are always the best that they can be. The most challenging. The most fufilling. Can you grant this wish?'

And for a moment, maybe there's something a little dark in Kyuubey's calm smile. "I can." His second set of ears extend then, piercing your chest - they sink through without blood, but there is a ripping, tearing pain.

Tyrranis remains confusingly calm during this, looking coldly down to his chest and giving off a grimace. "Are you fighting me Kyuubey?"

"No, of course not! I'm making you a magical boy." With that, Kyuubey pulls its ears back, something floating between them, glimmering with light - a gem, egg-shaped and set in gold. "See?"

Tyrranis examines the grey gem, and smiles lightly at Kyuubey. "I am glad. I would not like to have been lied to. You are a good person Kyuubey."

Kyuubey smiles cheerfully. "Just keep it safe! You should know how to use it by instinct."

Tyrranis reaches out and takes the gem, looking at it with a calm gaze. "What is this? It is something I can use to fight with?" Tyrranis reaches to the ground and pulls up an old cracked baseball bat he brought with him, and begins examining the two at once.

"It's your Soul Gem! It's your main weapon and the source of your magic. Just try and use it, you'll know how just naturally!" Kyuubey seems bright and happy.

Tyrranis holds his gem aloft, and focuses on it, emiting a low growl. Grey light bursts from the gem and envelops the gigantos, and then slowly seeps into his skin. His towel is changed by the light, becoming a light grey Hakama with gold trim.

Tyrranis reaches up to feel his chest, and one of the old scars that crosses over his heart has been replaced by the gem, filling the void of his scar-tissue.

You say ' This. Is this the feeling? I can now fight?'

Kyuubey nods. "Just be careful with your Soul Gem! It will get dark if you fight too much without cleaning it."

You say ' So I must clean it. This I did not know. Kyuubey. I will have trouble with this. Can you help me remember?'

Kyuubey nods again. "I'll help you at first, don't worry. And we can talk mentally now, so just call to me when you need me."

You say ' This. This is good. Thank you Kyuubey. It is my hope we shall be friends.'
